Volunteer

Student PointingThere are a variety of ways that you can contribute to the Smith Society. Please find the appropriate category below that defines you, and follow instructions.

A Smith student

As a Smith student, you may participate as much or as little as you like. You can help with the Fall Kickoff, weekly lunches, Smith graduation, workshops, dinners, and holiday gatherings. For most of these activities, we can use help with organizing, shopping, setting up, sign ins, and/or clean up. Volunteering to help with these activities will help to develop your leadership skills, a plus on your resume if you apply for a paid position within the Smith Society. If you’d like to volunteer, please email smithsociety@ucsc.edu.

A UCSC affiliated staff or faculty member, or community member

Volunteer to help with our community event. For most activities, we can use help with organizing, shopping, setting up, sign ins, and/or clean up. If you’d like to volunteer for any activities, please email smithsociety@ucsc.edu.

You may want to become a mentor to a Smith student. A Smith mentor is matched with a Smith student seeking a mentor with the expectation that they may form a relationship that provides support and guidance to the student. This may mean having coffee weekly, sharing challenges and accomplishments, or getting help navigating the university. If you’re interested, please complete the mentor application here.
